Since the industrial revolution, the CO2 emissions increased rapidly. As a result we have
to face the consequences as for instance rising sea levels, natural disasters CO2Calculator - page 2and extreme weather. Nevertheless, you can do something and make your organisation greener. With the Indicator you can calculate the CO2 emissions reduction due to waste separation at the source  in comparison to no separation. Use the Indicator and fill in the different types of waste separation within your organisation. Then a calculation is made to determine how much CO2 you would have created and the amount of CO2 reduction by separating the waste.

WSS is the initiator of this tool and cooperates with TNO, Dutch technology research centre. The indicator is based on EU  standards of the CO2 calculation. The CO2 footprint indicator shows the potential savings of the real CO2 emIssion. It calculates the effects of the separation at the source  of  waste collection or industrial waste. This is done using the CO2 footprint indicator .

With technologies such as GPRS communication, WSS has developed a system for the registration of (mini-) containers during collection.
RSVehicle is applicable to all binlifting systems. The user interface provides the driver with information and alerts. The large 7 inch touch screen colour display of the board computer can clearly follow the  container registration. After storing the registration data, it is directly transmitted by GPRS from the boardcomputer to the integral control center. The board computer on the truck is based on a Windows operating system and has USB ports. The system can work with either Barcode, LF or UHF identification in the container. In addition we can link a weighing system to the registration.

The RSVehicle software has a clear user interface. The screen is large and in colour. The system does not need to be operated manualy. Where action by the driver is required, he can merely pressing a pictogram on the screen. Normally there is no intervention. The design of RSvehicle is to retain maximum truck reg systattention to the traffic. When a black listed container is loaded, the board computer indicates this and shows on which loading side it occurred. With this specific information, the driver can act faster and more effectively.

Registration data
The registration data can be transmitted wireless via GPRS from the board computer to the integral control center. This transmission uses a secure protocol to fully protect the data. The data is accessible via the WSS RSOffice internet web application. The data can be analysed using the internal status reports. The data can be exported to your container management package. It is important to know that the RSvehicle software on the truck is a registration system and does not make an interpretation.

Board Computer
The all-in-one handheld computer is designed for voice and data and is ideal for mobile employees who work under harsh conditions. The housing can withstand drops, exposure to dust, water and extreme temperatures. The display has a 7 inch QVGA resolution and is easy to read even in daylight. The operating system of the boardcomputer used by RSvehicle is Windows 7. This guaranties a solid base for the future.

Selective accessinlet

The Barrow Container System is a selective access system for underground, semi-underground and aboveground containers

It’s a modular system applicable and adaptable to different containers. Its built up from the following components:

♦ Barrow Reader Unit
♦ Barrow Solar Unit or Battery powered
♦ Barrow Lock
♦ Barrow cables
♦ WSS Software

This modular assembly is very simple, easy to service worldwide andapplicable to many container types. A Barrow Container System is available in various designs.

The basis is the same. However, there is a difference in terms of functionality. The energy source of the Barrow can be battery or solar cell which is sustainable and environmentally conscious. By continuously recharging the battery by means of the solar cell, the lifetime of the battery increases (up to 5 years). New developments in power management and new battery types will extend the use of the battery in the near future. The secret of a good container access system lays in a low power design.

Access control
Users activate the Barrow access system by holding an RFID Eco-card in front of the Barrow Reader. After reviewing the information in this card the inlet is unlocked and waste can be dumped. After using, the inlet will automatically lock. Each time a card is identified one can throw waste as big as the inlet size. Throwing twice means that the card has to be presented twice. The inlet size can be between 10 and 80 liter.


Black list and white list
The selective access Barrow Container system can work with a black list and/or white list. Cards on the black list indicate which are blocked and therefore have no access to a particular container system. Cards on the white list do have access to a particular container system. The reason for a black list and/or white list is avoiding unauthorized use (paintshop, chemicals, industrial use) of assigned container systems and an evenly filling of all containers.

RFID Eco Card
Eco Cards or keyhangers are available in many varieties. Common are the MIFARE RFID cards offered as a credit card or keyhanger. 
The cards  can be customized printed. For instance personalized and/or provided with a unique number or barcode for identification of the card. The cards  are household ( address) -related.

Container Management
A Barrow Container System can be managed by using the WSS web application integral control center. All registrations, notifications, container locations and card management are made visible through the website. Different states can be examined, think of: filling level, battery voltage level,  blocking and user failures.
Filling ratio: with a counter in the throw-in column the unit records how often the load lock is open. The system is designed so that two limits to the degree of filling can be set. Once the number of deposits reaches one of these limits, there is a message.

Software as a Service in the Cloud
RSOffice is Software as a Service (SaaS). This is software offered as an online service. The user doesn’t need to purchase the software, but enters into a contract for the use, for a fixed monthly fee per truck. WSS provides installation, support, maintenance and management. The customer profits of the improvements made in the software.

Operational management
For example:
The Barrow container must be locked on New Year’s Eve and must be opened on apublic holiday. 
The collection truck, collecting a specific area or a black list stored for certain users.
The black list and white list on the truck are dynamic meaning that they can be updated every few minutes. 
This can all be done by the authorized persons from a location using RSOffice.

Import and export
The data can be used for management information. The information can be exported to different packages, as for instance text file or MSExcel . Our philosophy is that the customer is free to export all data from the system into his own system

Black list and white list
The principle of a black list or white list is selective or limited access. A black list is made up with users who should not have access. If a select group of users may have access, these are placed on a white list.

The total package RSoffice is a best practice application and it continues to expand. WSS commits itself to apply the wishes of the customer as much as possible. All new features are automatically added to the package without extra cost.

Container tracking

A unique barcodecode can be used to track . The disadvantage is that a barcode can be copied. If damaged or dirty the barcode will not read.

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. This is a technology where it is possible to store information and to read of so-called RFID tags without contact using Radio Signals. The major advantages of using RFID, with a unique individual code, is tracability without physical contact. This makes the product applicable when circumstances are difficult and line of sight is not optimal. There are different chips and chip types made by manufacturers. Each chip type has its own application to achieve the best results.

Active tags
An active RFID tag has its own power source (usually a battery). Because of their size and high price relative active tags are not used for identification of (mini-) containers.

Passive tags
Most labels in (mini-) containers are passive and have no internal power source such as a battery. They are fed by signals and energy from readers. Passive tags have several advantages over active. First, they are cheaper. Second, they are generally smaller and thinner. Finally, the absence of a battery means that a passive tag has a longer life.
